All three terms and brands offer remarkably similar features and experiences. Originally, the primary difference between a WaveRunner and JetSki was the driver position: sitting or standing. However, Jet Ski’s now offer both sitting and standing models. Our Yamaha VX Cruiser is a seated position waverunner that comfortably seats three people.
Guidelines
Following these guidelines will prevent the need for costly repairs that you could be held liable for.
- DO NOT attempt to dock the equipment on land or “beach” it, this can cause damage.
- Do not drive the equipment near shallow water. It is critical that you keep the machines at a water level of 4 feet or deeper at all times, even when the machines are not running. Never pull them up onto the beach. Boat anchors will be provided so that you can always maintain a safe water level for the machines.
- Always keep a close eye on the equipment even when it is anchored in the water. This will help prevent the possibility of theft and unauthorized use by others in your party such as kids and teenagers. You are the one being held liable for any damage that could occur.
- Follow all safety rules for operating watercraft’s while in the water. Silverado Rentals is not liable for any property damage or personal injury that may result while in possession of our equipment. Make sure you understand the rules and regulations established by each location/lake that you are visiting.
There are special rules for personal water crafts (PWCs) in Texas, as listed by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Dept. and detailed in the Texas Water Safety Act, include:
PWCs cannot legally operate at night (between sunset and sunrise)
They should not be operated within 50 feet of another PWC, boat, shore, person or another object except at slow speeds (fast enough only to maintain steering ability).
It is also illegal for a PWC operator to jump the wake of another boat.
Everyone who rides a PWC must have a life jacket (personal flotation device). Inflatable vests do not meet requirements.
To legally operate a PWC in Texas, a person must be at least 13 years old. Those born after Sept. 1, 1993, must have successfully completed a boater education course.
If PWCs have a kill-switch or cut-off, this must be attached to the operator or his/her clothes.
